The Bhagavad Gita is a 700-verse philosophical dialogue from the Mahabharata. Set on a battlefield, Lord Krishna counsels the warrior Arjuna on his duty (Dharma). It teaches selfless action without attachment to results (Karma Yoga) and loving devotion (Bhakti), guiding individuals to spiritual liberation.

- The Eternal Soul (Jnana Yoga): Krishna first teaches the fundamental difference between the temporary physical body and the eternal, indestructible soul (Atman). Because the soul never dies, Arjuna is instructed to look beyond fleeting physical attachments and understand his duty.
- Selfless Action (Karma Yoga): The Gita is most famous for its philosophy of action. Krishna advises Arjuna to perform his prescribed duty to the best of his ability, but to completely detach himself from the outcomes (success or failure, pleasure or pain). By acting without selfish desires, one remains mentally at peace.
- Path of Devotion (Bhakti Yoga): While knowledge and action are vital, Krishna emphasizes that pure, loving devotion to the Divine is the ultimate path to liberation and inner peace. Surrendering one's ego and actions to God brings true spiritual freedom.
